Islamic Inheritance Calculator

TRW LAW FIRM · LEGAL TOOLS

Islamic inheritance calculator

Build a clear, indicative Faraid distribution for common family structures. The calculator works in your browser, shows the method used and keeps your inputs on your device.

START WITH THE NET ESTATE

Enter the people who survive the deceased.

Before calculating, settle funeral expenses, enforceable debts and any valid bequest under the applicable rules. Enter the remaining distributable estate below. Select only relatives who are alive at the relevant date.
01

Estate information

Use any currency. The calculator applies shares to the amount you provide.
02

Surviving relatives

METHOD

A transparent estimate, not a black box.

The calculator starts with commonly recognised fixed shares, checks whether a closer heir excludes a more remote heir, and allocates the balance to a residual heir where the selected facts allow a standard calculation. Where fixed shares exceed the whole estate, it applies a proportional reduction. Where a balance remains without a standard residual heir, it flags the result for review rather than quietly inventing a share.
  1. Confirm the net estate and surviving family members.
  2. Apply fixed shares and recognised exclusions.
  3. Allocate any balance to standard residual heirs.
  4. Review exceptions, competing claims, gifts, debts, wills and the governing personal-law position with qualified advisers.

SUCCESSION SUPPORT

For an estate, the facts matter as much as the formula.

TRW can help structure the legal work around succession documents, estate assets, jurisdictional issues and the steps required for the family’s particular matter.

FAQS

Using the calculator responsibly

Does this calculator decide who legally inherits? No. It produces an indicative educational calculation for common selected combinations. Legal entitlement may depend on personal law, family status, documentary evidence, debts, gifts, valid bequests, court procedure and other facts.
What amount should be entered as the estate?Use the amount left for distribution after you have identified relevant funeral costs, enforceable liabilities and any valid pre-distribution deductions. Seek tailored advice where the amounts or legal status are disputed.
Why does the calculator say that a relative is excluded?Faraid principles commonly give closer heirs priority over more remote heirs. The tool names standard exclusions visible from the selected inputs, but it cannot verify relationships or every exception.
Can I use this result to divide property immediately? No. Do not transfer estate assets solely on this screen result. Review the estate, relevant legal requirements and the appropriate religious and legal advice before acting.
Does the calculator save family or asset information? No. The calculation is performed in the browser. It does not transmit the form values to TRW. Email or book a consultation only if you choose to contact us.
What if the family arrangement is more complex? The calculator will flag cases involving extended relatives, competing shares or outcomes that need more detailed analysis. Contact TRW at info@trw.org to discuss the legal work needed.
